5 Step Process

Garage Floor Installs

Garage Floor Preparation

Garage Floor by Closet Factory uses The Prep Perfect System. This concrete prep coating system starts with the installation crew grinding the entire body of the floor surface with a planetary diamond grinder. The edges are grounded down by a hand grinder. During this process, the team utilizes a dustless self-contained vacuum system to remove dust from the floor. This process ensures every square inch of the floor is properly prepared which profiles the substrate and opens the pores of the concrete ensures that every floor we coat achieves an unbreakable mechanical bond to the substrate.

Cracks & Devots Repair

Cracks naturally occur in concrete, especially in South Florida. These cracks and divots are filled with a polyurea filler or cementitious mortar. Once applied, the filler cures in about 25 minutes. The excess can be ground off so that the floor is completely smooth and monolithic as possible.

Apply Colored Primer & Chip Bed Coat

Garage Floor by Closet Factory uses a Pure Bred Polyaspartic/ Polyurea floor coating which is a 2-component system.

The instillation crew mixes the 2 components adding pigment to the base coat that matches our customer’s choice of pre-blended vinyl composite flakes. The crew first rolls the base coat on the garage floor surfaces to receive the chip flakes.

Apply Decorative Chips

Once the crew member finishes rolling the coating onto the floor, another crew member will broadcast the vinyl flakes by hand throwing the chips into the air. Once the entire floor surface is covered with the flakes, the drying process usually takes 30 – 60 minutes. The excess chips, or the chips that has not bonded with the coating is blown up with a leaf blower and removed.

The floor is scraped with a flat metal-edge scraper to knock down any standing flakes and make the flake base coat even and smooth. Once the entire floor is scraped, it is again blown and vacuumed to remove any debris.

Permanent Protection Top Clear Coat of Polyaspartic / Polyurea

The clear top coat is poured out of mixing buckets in rows and then distributed by hand rolling it in multiple directions. This process ensures that the top coat has an even layer. If the customer has chosen the BEST Coating System, additional material is added at the same time with the same process, which leaves a consistent finish that’s extremely durable.

Caution tape will be placed across the opening of the garage. We recommend that you do not walk on the coating or return items for 24 hours. Use caution when returning items in the garage like refrigerators, use a hand truck or furniture dolly. Do not park your car for 48 hours post installation.

Finally, our crew will clean up the entire site and load up the truck with their equipment and materials.
